Covid-19 Orders and Information

Conditions continue to evolve regarding the transmission rate of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Court finds that it is appropriate to adjust its response in furtherance of the recovery effort and the steady decrease in new COVID-19 cases. Presently, all Charlotte Chapter 7, 11 hearings, asbestos hearings, and special settings are being conducted in person. Beginning March 22, 2022, Charlotte Chapter 13 hearings will also be conducted in person. All Asheville hearings will resume in-person beginning April 5, 2022, all Statesville hearings will resume in-person beginning April 8, 2022, and all Shelby hearings will resume in-person beginning April 29, 2022.  The Clerk’s Offices of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court remain open to the public at the Charlotte and Asheville divisions from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, closed for lunch 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. The Statesville division office remains closed until further notice. Petitions may be filed at the Charlotte and Asheville intake counters.  Petitions may also be deposited in the drop box in Statesville during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   Filings may also be mailed to the Charlotte Clerk’s Office address on this site. Payments should be made at the Charlotte office. Any questions about filings or payments should be directed to 704-350-7500. While sealed envelopes for payment are available at the drop box, customers are strongly urged to call the number listed above for instructions on submitting payments.
